We learned many things about our country this week. We learned about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. We talked about each man’s special place in our country’s history. Ask your child to tell you something about each man. We learned to name our country and find it on the map. We also talked about our flag and what the stars and stripes on the mean. We discussed each country having a different flag. The Olympics provide a great back drop for this discussion. Many of the children have noticed different looking flags for different countries.
We introduced Lent. The Bible verse is coming home today and I will have the children recite it for me on Friday. Lent is a difficult concept for children this age. We did make a cross for our classroom. Each child told me something they would try to do for Jesus or something they would give up for Jesus.
We learned about Community Helpers. We talked about why parents work. We talked about the things parents are able to provide for their families because they work at a job and receive a paycheck. The children went around and told about the jobs their parents have.
We are beginning to work with the numbers from 20-39. We will work on naming the numbers in order and in mixed up order. We will also work on writing the numbers soon.
Reminders

∑ Our letter of the week next week is Ll. Some of the children have not been bringing something in for our letter of the week box. Please help your child look for something each day. I tell the children this is part of their homework!``````````````
