May Newsletter
Dear Family,
It is hard to believe it’s May already! Here are some of the items for you to know about this month.
Tomorrow we will be visiting Linden Hill for their presentation on lumbering. We’re hoping for good weather so we can walk. Please encourage your child to wear walking shoes/tennis shoes. If you marked “lunch from home” on the permission slip please remember to send it along with your child.
Next Thursday, May 13th, 3rd graders are included in the Spring Concert, along with the fourth graders. There will be both an afternoon and evening performance.
The last book order forms are being sent home today- due date: Friday, May 7.
In the last month we have learned a lot about Amelia Earhart and aviation in general. We will continue to learn about Charles Lindbergh and his family to prepare us for our upcoming field trip on May 20th.
Last week and this week we are discussing our “Talk about Touch” program. We use the same materials as the school district. Please talk to your child about the topics we have covered. We are covering areas such as road, gun, and fire safety, touching safety, assertiveness, and support.
We started reading Charlotte’s Web this week. It takes about 2 weeks to read. This is a familiar story to the 3rd graders and there are many activities they will be involved in including writing, sequencing, character analysis, and more. At the end of the book we do a reader’s theater presentation of the story, then we have a mini county fair set up in the gym for the other students in the school. If you happen to have any small toys/trinkets or candy treats to donate for this purpose it would be appreciated!
You can check our class website calendar for the events going on as well.
Happy May! Mrs. Ballou
